Rather than compete, MAE is there to fill the existing gap in education between mainstream schools and special needs centers. A 20-minutes screening is completed to assess whether your child meets the criteria for entry into our program. The screening looks at skills such as cognitive ability, interaction, and basic academics. The screening also provides an insight into the level of support your child requires to access our program to their full potential. Levels of support include 1:1, 3:1 or independent. If needed, a trial day is also provided to support screening, should your child have difficulty demonstrating his/her true ability during the screening process. If the screening process reveals that a child is not at the appropriate level of functioning to benefit from our programs, you will be referred to other trusted special needs centers. MAE, being a fair and not for profit center, believes it would be a shame for parents to pay for a program that would not benefit their child.
We run a full day program from 8.30am to 2.30pm, covering academics, vocational and social aspects. It is highly recommended that students are enrolled in the full day program for best outcomes. Alternatively, we offer parents the option of splitting the day in half by choosing to enroll in either the academic program (8.30am – 12.30pm) or the vocational program (12.00 – 2.30pm).
